Do whatever makes you happy.[1]

If you’re using headphones, give your ears a break from time to time.

It all depends on what you’re comfortable with and the conditions with which you process them best. I have to be doing something like driving, mowing lawn, chores, etc. I can’t just sit in a chair and listen, that’s when my mind wanders. I also can’t be listening while looking at my phone or playing games on my computer. If you’ve got the time and focus to go through four audios a day and still retain what you’ve heard for the most part, great.

For me some days I go without then do 3/4/5 in a day and sometimes it can burn you out tbh. Try having a week off or a few days really, thats how I avoid burnout these days.

Also we have this thread btw just for general BF chat and stuff like that! Big Finish General Discussion / News and Updates - #269 by Shayleen

Ha, that’s the spot I’m in. I’m trying to be a Sixth Doctor completionist, but now that I’ve exhausted all the audios I have nothing left to listen to as far as he’s concerned. Good thing Peri has some non-Six audios for me to engage in.

When I’m at home all day sewing or pottering or whatever, I can easily get through three or four MR stories, or a lot of single hour stories. I listen more than I watch TV, so it’s no different to binge watching TV to me.

When I had covid I pretty much listened to Gallifrey start to finish over like four days. That was great :star_struck:

Honestly! For me I’m gutted there’s no more Torchwood to consume, and now its bi-monthly and no boxsets in sight its very sad :sob:

When I went to Amsterdam I listened to like 4 or 5 stories a day for like 3 or 4 days straight and got massively burnt out

Now I only usually do 2 or 3 at most, and usually after a week of that I’ll take a week or two break from BF

Nothing else to do in Amsterdam?

New idea: going to The :red_circle: District and paying someone to listen to an hour of Big Finish with you.

I mean, it really depends on your situation, who you are, your life and even just the day you’re having. What’s healthy is really, really personal and conditional. I think if you find yourself significantly avoiding friends, family or responsibilities in order to listen, that could be a sign you should dial it back a little. Personally, I have had days where I listened/watched so much, that yes that was a little unhealthy for me, but I also have days where doing nothing but Doctor Who all day is, in fact, the healthiest thing I can do. I have some pretty big mental health problems and Doctor Who brings me joy, so sometimes I really need that. Last summer for example I had a whole month where I just watched classic who, with about four serials a day, because I burned myself out badly during exams. I really needed that time to just rest and recover. So there for example it was a sign that I wasn’t doing well, but it was still something healthy for me to do. In total, it’s really personal and it could be unhealthy but it could also be perfectly fine

Honestly, there’s no right or wrong way to go about it. Personally, I’ve noticed that I can usually listen to 2-3 hours of audios in a day without feeling overwhelmed. Any more than that, and I find myself enjoying the story much less. This is partly due to my reviewing everything, so I tend to think about everything more than I otherwise would.

I listen to the same amount as you recently. It helps with my dysphoria, being a great distraction. Though I really should spend my time working on other things…

On second thought, I also listend to like 3-5 audios (1 hour episodes) when I was doing great with everything a few months ago. I had to comute for three hours everyday and it was all bf time

I actually got burned out last year and then i stopped somewhere around july and then didnt listen for months, now im only doing 3 or 4 cause im doing gallifrey and its really good.

yeah, that’s a big thing to consider too. Of Gallifrey for example, I usually do at most two or three a day because I do the liveblogs and everything, so they take more engagement. Other things I do much more quickly. I also often have a target audiobook in between for low-engagement listening
