It’s a very loose arc, but there is a “virus” arc. I actually think a lot of it was lost in the transition from Gary Russell to Nicholas Briggs, but it primarily culminate in Patient Zero which explains how the viruses spread across time and space.
The Monthly Adventures #95a - “Exotron” by Paul Sutton
Paul Sutton delivers what is by far his most underwhelming story, but still one that contains some wonderful character work. Unfortunately, we also have a dull action adventure shoved in there too - 5/10
The Monthly Adventures #95b - “Urban Myths” by Paul Sutton
A super fun mini adventure that uses an excellently premise well within its small runtime. It could be a little better, especially towards the end, however it’s inoffensive - 7/10
The Monthly Adventures #96 - “Valhalla” by Marc Platt
Valhalla is the sort of story I really struggle to review. There’s very little actively bad in it but there’s also absolutely no reason to listen to it. Derivative and generic, with only a performance from Michelle Gomez making it worth a look - 5/10
The Monthly Adventures #97a - “The Wishing Beast” by Paul Magrs
This feels like a Paul Magrs story without the heart - it’s eccentric and has some decent direction behind it by but the script is noticeably hollow - 6/10
The Monthly Adventures #97b - “The Vanity Box” by Paul Magrs
The Vanity Box is just fun. A light comedy with some genuine charm and wit to it; you won’t be blown away but it’s a good time nonetheless - 7/10
