Where was he in Robot of Sherwood?

I only remember a picture of him being shown in Time Heist (along with an evil Sensorite) :slightly_smiling_face:

Understatement of the Century :eyes:
If there’s a crime, this guy has done it…

Oops. I’m getting mixed up. It was Troughton as Robin Hood in RoS and you’re right Daak in Time Heist.

So the Wilderness Years began in 1980?

Oh dear. I remember now. This is when I started to dislike the 11 strips a lot! I hate the artwork (there are lots of frames where I can’t work out what I’m supposed to be looking at) and the story is just meh. I’m not a huge fan of the Time War anyway but this just hits all the wrong beats for me. The Squire is weird (and draw horrendously) although Abslom Daak is a fun inclusion (but he’s pretty one note). Alice really gets sidelined with all the extra characters. Really, really not fun.

Blimey, we could think more differently about this story!! Great review though!

This is exactly how I feelt when I read this.

I’m struggling a bit with these stories. The artwork on Outrun is much better and I do like some of the images like the Dalek saucer and the ionic column but nothing is really hitting for me. I suppose I’ll just have to put it down to my dislike of the Time War. I’m not disliking them when I read them but when I then come to think about them to write on here and give a rating, I’m not thinking about them with much enthusiasm.

So as @jaypea said in his review, The Judas Goatee seems to be entirely based around some Sontarans who have goatees because they once spoke to the Master…. So yeah, that happened. I wish I liked these more because I love 11 and Alice and always thought Daak was fun but this collection has been underwhelming as a story and seems determined to make 11 depressed. I’ve said elsewhere today that I don’t really like my Who being all introspective, mournful and ‘serious’ - at least without the fun, adventure romp to balance it out and, yes, that was there but not enough (and there aren’t any performances to help lift it out of the script).

Unfortunately, Eleven’s second year was really weak. It was just uninteresting.

So I’m late to the party, but I have strong opinions on this one, and I’m generally pretty positive about this era of comics.

This one irks me in a way I can’t quite articulate, I think it’s partly to do with the gymnastics they have to do to try to make this master for with canon for what seems to me very little payoff (don’t get me wrong, Big Finish have come up with plenty of convoluted additions and alterations to the Masters timeline but most of those feel like you get narrative payoff, or are strong or fun enough to just be additional background for the character, this one just annoys me.

Nice to see Abslom Daak back though

I thought it was an interesting story regarding the Time War aspect. Abslom Daak coming back wasn’t expected but fun enough. The Squire is also an interesting side character. I like that the story deals with the Doctor’s moral ambiguity but it doesn’t feel as fleshed out at times. But I am excited to see where River comes in during the next comics.
