Call Me Master: Inner Demons

That sounds kind of fun.

It’s dark though, and usually not many people get out alive…

Surprised Beevers has never got his own box set

Yeah same! At least with MacQueen I know he’s likely super busy but you’d think with how much they use Beavers’ Master he’d get a set

I’m kinda apprehensive going into this series. I wasn’t a huge fan of this incarnation, and the trailer was… well… So yeah I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy it but as its a 13 era series I want to give it a go!

Really? I’ve gotta say I really, really didn’t :sob: I wasn’t sure if it was the writers first script, but I checked and all of their stories I’ve heard I’ve rated low or averagely, tbh idk if they wrote anything pre-BF. Gonna review now but I really don’t know what score to give it…

I’ve usually been a big Georgia Cook fan, so it’s the opposite situation for me. From the ones I’ve heard I think she has very interesting concepts and always puts a pleasant emotional through line about life in it. I’ve actually rated this one the same as Valentine’s story. (gotta say though that that story is more on the high side of a 4/5 than this one)

Spoilers in the review, but yeah as I mentioned, I didn’t enjoy this one unfortunately. This was my 4th Georgia Cook script and I’ve so far given her 3/5, 3.5/5, 2/5 and 1/5. Idk I really felt like this set hit the ground running in ep 1 and ep 2 just didn’t land for me personally but I see so far I’m the only one to give it a bad rating so maybe its just me!

I need to buy this now :sob::sob::sob:

Finished the third ep, I enjoyed it but less than the first ep, way more than the 2nd ep. I think for me Episode 1 is the best, followed by 3 then 2. I do kinda wish the set had been done like a lot of recent sets, all one writer. Also, please for the love of god big finish give us arc boxsets again…

3/5 spoilers in review!

Not one for the interviews these days tbh, I used to be but idk I’m kinda fed up of them constantly playing tracks from the episodes to pad it out. I listened to the finale interviews in case we got any hints for S2, like they did in the Fugitive finale interviews, but there was nothing unfortunately.

The good life is an actual masterpiece. Like holy shit. They really just did that. The Master nudging people into going from ”humanity!” (said in delighted tenth Doctor voice) to “humanity.” (said in disdainful Scottish twelve voice). Really like the angle that this boxset is taking with exploring the Master’s morality and psychology.

I cannot recommend the War Master series enough, even if you’re not interested in the Time War they’re absolutely superb

Self-Help was great. A real showcase for Sacha Dhawan’s acting. A great performance. It does have a familiar trope that I’ve noticed from a few Master centric stories, the Master pretending to be someone else but we the listener know who he is & are waiting for the reveal. But its so much fun.

It also teases at where he is in the Master’s order of regenerations but could be interpreted in different ways. & its not that important tbh.
