ADDED:

I have added the new Audio Book release, Blake’s 7: Afterlife, which also has a cover and a synopsis.

Full press release:

When Terry Nation’s acclaimed science fiction series Blake’s 7 ended in 1981, audiences were left reeling by the shocking ending – and wondering what happened next. Their questions were answered in 1984 novel Afterlife, written by Tony Attwood, who had previously compiled the definitive Blake’s 7 Programme Guide.

In the story, developed from an idea by screenwriter Chris Boucher, the surviving members of Blake’s rebellious crew continue their fight against the Terran Federation, while the sinister Servalan tightens her grip on the galaxy.

Afterlife has long been out of print but will soon be available once more in audiobook format. This new reading is performed by Alistair Lock, who regular Big Finish Blake’s 7 listeners will know as the voice of Orac and Zen.

Blake’s 7: Afterlife has a running time of seven hours and fifty minutes, and is now available to pre-order as a digital download for £21.99, exclusively here.

Nine million people watched the dramatic final episode of the Blake’s 7 TV series. And not one could ever forget – or fathom – the final catastrophic shootout on Gauda Prime.

Did Blake’s death really mean the end of the fight against the evil forces of the Federation? Was the vulnerable thief Vila killed – or just wounded? What happened to the computer Orac? Would the scheming Servalan regain her old powerbase?

And what of Avon himself, the unbeatable, unpredictable paranoid who had ended it all?

Afterlife is Tony Attwood’s brilliant continuation of the Blake’s 7 story.

The audiobook will come packaged with a PDF download of the original 2,000-word glossary for the novel.

Producer Peter Anghelides said: “When we released the audiobook of Paul Darrow’s prequel novel Avon: A Terrible Aspect, we knew we wanted to do the same with Tony Attwood’s Afterlife, because it’s the other original novel from the time of the TV series that bookends the whole of Blake’s 7.

“The book was first published by Target Books in 1984 – appropriately enough, a year that’s long associated in literature with a dystopian world ruled over by a dictatorial leader. Four decades later, we are revisiting that world of a faceless bureaucracy cruelly directed by an uncaring supreme commander.

“Following directly on from the explosive TV finale, Afterlife reveals not only the consequences for our heroes from Scorpio, but also what happened to the character most significantly absent from that story – Servalan herself. Now fans can hear these startling events brilliantly read by the familiar voice of Alistair Lock in this brand-new reading.”

This audiobook contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners.

Blake’s 7: Afterlife is now available to pre-order as a digital download for £21.99, exclusively here.

All the above prices (including pre-order and multibuy bundle discounts) are fixed for a limited time only and guaranteed no later than 31 December 2025.

UPDATE:

We have a title, cover and synopsis for the SEPTEMBER '25 Fourth Doctor release.

Recorded on: 4 and 14 December 2018, 9 April 2019

The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) returns alongside his companions Leela (Louise Jameson) and K9 (John Leeson) for a box set of two brand-new full-cast audio adventures from Big Finish Productions.

In the first story, the two-part Conspiracy of Silence, the TARDIS crew are joined by the Brigadier (Jon Culshaw) as they investigate mysterious disappearances on a remote oil rig. The rig turns out to be infested by a terrifying enemy – though no one can remember them for long – the Silence (Nicholas Briggs).

The second story in the box set is a four-part historical epic, The Last Queen of the Nile, in which the Doctor takes his companions on a trip to ancient Egypt. But this is no holiday, as they find Cleopatra’s realm on the brink of war.

Pippa Bennett-Warner (Gangs of London) guest stars as Queen Cleopatra, alongside Michael Lumsden (The Archers) as Mark Anthony and Blake Ritson (The Gilded Age) as Octavian Caesar.

Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: The Last Queen of the Nile is now available to pre-order from just £19.99 (download to own) or £24.99 (download to own + collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set) exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,500 copies and will not be repressed.

The Fourth Doctor’s exciting new adventures are detailed below.

Conspiracy of Silence by Jonathan Morris

Something happened to the oil rig. Something so swift and unexpected that the one hundred and fifty people aboard couldn’t summon help. Everyone who has tried to investigate has disappeared.

So now the Brigadier is sending the Doctor and Leela. But is there anything to find there? Or is there nothing to be found there? No-one on board… but the Silence.

The Last Queen of the Nile by David K Barnes

The TARDIS lands a few miles from Alexandria in Egypt, where the Doctor, Leela and K9 encounter Mark Antony, returning from a military campaign. As he joins Cleopatra, they realise they are about to witness one of the most famous romances in history.

But this romance threatens the power of Rome, where the ambitious Octavian Caesar is attempting to convince the Senate to declare war on the Queen of the Nile. A tragedy of Shakespearean proportions is about to unfold – and the time travellers are trapped in the middle.

Producer David Richardson said: “It’s been a joy to bring the Brigadier back into the Doctor’s life this season, and in Conspiracy of Silence, he joins the Doctor, Leela and K9 on an adventure that is unforgettable. Or, given that the Silence are involved, can that even be possible?

“And Last Queen of the Nile is a belting historical story by the genius writer David K Barnes, as the TARDIS crew encounter Cleopatra and Mark Antony in Egypt. It’s a story packed with peril, incident and drama, and a huge two-parter to end the season on.”

Writer David K Barnes added: “I was always thrilled by those old Hollywood epics like Spartacus, Ben-Hur, and Cleopatra – those huge sets, all those costumes, lots of thesps strutting about with deliciously florid dialogue. I really loved all that and always wanted to see Doctor Who do that story.

“And, I really like putting Leela into historical periods. The Doctor is almost godlike, stands back, gets involved in chats and jokes, but still has that Time Lord detachment. Leela doesn’t understand our history, yet she’s very much a part of it. If you put Steven or Vicki or Harry into a historical like this, they’d be horrified by the bloodshed, but Leela just gets on with it and gets straight through to the heart of the story.”

All three of 2025’s Fourth Doctor Adventures box sets (including the previously announced The Hellwood Inheritance and The Ruins of Kaerula) can be pre-ordered together in a bundle from just £57 (download to own) or £70.50 (download to own + collector’s edition CD).

Alternatively, listeners can buy this series as part of a bundle of all 15 Classic Doctor Who box sets released in 2025 from just £275 (download to own) or £335 (download to own + collector’s edition CD box set). Please note: the above multi-buy bundle pre-order prices are discounted for 2024 only and guaranteed no later than 31 January 2025.

Cover looks great! Interesting to hear the Silence again!

And it’s still wild to me that they’ve recorded these six years ago!

They’ve did a whole bunch with Tom in rapid succession. It’s so that if something happens to him, they’ll still have content for a while.

I know the reason. It just never ceases to amaze. Stuff they’ll record this year won’t be out until the 2030s, and Tom might be long gone by then…

Yeah I know. It just fun to keep track of how long ago they were.

Tom Baker said a lifetime ago that he had recorded an audio that featured Cleopatra, so it’s weird to finally get this one. Super excited about it tho! I’m very far behind in the 4DAs but I love them (perhaps my favorite range after the beloved deceased monthlies) and will get there someday.

The Cleopatra one made me curious. I have an on and off relationship with David K Barnes stories. I don’t like Divine Intervetion, The Silent Priest and The Silent City. I like Fond Farewell. The Dalek Invasion of Winter is great. I love love love Daughter of the Gods.

Haven’t listened to Storm of the Sea Devils yet.

So who knows.
