Big Finish General Discussion

So I’m not entirely sure where to put discussion of big finish releases that aren’t related to Doctor Who, but I just saw this on the BF website front page and it sounds fascinating?!!
A story set in a post-revolutionary socialist society where obsessive capital accumulation syndrome is a diagnosed mental health condition, I love it. I’m only slightly wary about whether the twists that are hinted at will mean the messaging will come off in the end as anti-socialist rather than pro, I hope not. But I think I’ll give it a sniff, wondering if anyone else has any thoughts about this release?

I’m really intrigued by this, as well as the fact they’re doing a pilot approach which IG means BF original stuff maybe hasn’t sold as well in the past. I really like stories like this, so I think it’ll be interesting. Recently, whenever new BF releases drop I’ve been doing threads so can make one for this nearer the time. Or now tbh, given its just a one-off release?

It is possible to be both an anti-capitalist as well as an anti-socialist.
Personally, I think that dystopias are overrepresented in the market at the moment, so I’m not putting this one on my list. I hope other people enjoy it, though.

This is my worry. If so it feels ill-judged.

Dystopias aren’t as fun when they’re not sci-fi or horror imo

Because what we definitely need in this political climate is a story piece saying how bad socialism is

I’d hope for nuance even if it does pick a side…

A rather lovely piece of writing from Tim Foley about his Big Finish CDs.

This paragraph caught my eye. I’m going to have to check my copy at home later because it sounds like something is missing from the Guide!

What a lovely read! I know his exact feeling as well: I found my old DS games at my dad’s that I had written off as lost/sold in a box at Christmas.

I like the cover mostly except it looks to me like Adric has a large boxing glove on at a glance

Paternoster Trespassers final set tomorrow! Really excited, I’ve enjoyed the arc and it shows how much an arc impacts a series as I’ve found it a lot more enjoyable than their aimless first 4 sets. Hope we get more from them!

I’ve only done the first episode of the first rogues gallery set and thought it was okay.

Could we be in for some New Who reveals today? 9DA covers, 13DA covers?

All covers for announced releases for April are out, May has all bar Torchwood, June all bar Dark Gallifrey, and July where the 13DA’s start there’s so far just 1 cover announced and that’s the latest cover that’s released so far.

They’ve been quiet today, I reckon something will be coming cover or otherwise. I still don’t know what happened with the Paternoster series!?
