Best of the Pantheon Gods?

Yes!

I’m really excited to see what James Goss will do with Lux. He’s sure to work wonders!

Ahhhh I can’t decide! Devil’s Chord is probably my least favourite but I love the rest of them so much. If I had to I’d rank it The Giggle > S1 Finale > Lux > TDC. Honestly for me if it’s a Pantheon episode, it may as well be an automatic favourite, I absolutely adore the concept.

WRT some of the discussion of as to why some gods use Harbingers and do the giggle while others don’t, I like to think it mostly depends on the character of the god in question as well as their modus operandi. Sutekh, for example, is a very grandiose and serious figure and would thus not do the (admittedly camp) Giggle, but the Toymaker, Maestro, and Lux very much are and thus would.

As for the Harbinger question, by definition Harbinger means “person or thing that shows that something is going to happen soon, especially something bad.” So Lux, for example, used the title of the film “The Harvest Bringer” as his harbinger purely as a flex - there’s no utility to it, he simply wanted to flash. Sutekh, on the other hand, used Harriet, a more humanlike creation both to warn of his coming and to function as an avatar of sorts to spread his dust of death - very fitting when you remember his penchant for dominating and controlling people.

On a semi unrelated note, I love the idea of the Trickster not having one specific Harbinger but several - ie, the Doctor bumps into several people whose names spell out the word Harbinger (Harry, Anthony, Rachel, etc) - because his whole thing is coincidences and chance.

I absolutely love this concept. :star_struck:

I’m simply in love with Lux because of the visuals, the photography, the colors, the concepts, the relationship between the doctor and Belinda. I think it was the pinnacle of an episode in the pantheon so far for me. Empire of the Dead was my least favorite, but it’s weird because I think I like The Legend of Ruby Sunday a little more than Devil Chords.:face_with_peeking_eye:

Also every Patheon God so far has had a musical number in their episode, apart from Sutekh.

I find it strange that we had “the god of all gods” in the S1 finale and now we keep getting more gods. Like it should have been left til last?

We will see what they do at the end of this season!

While not in his episode, I kinda count this as Sutekh’s…

Lux and Maestro are extremely close for me. I love both of their episodes. Lux is a tiny bit more enjoyable so I chose them.

I’m headcanoning that Sutekh wasn’t the god of all gods, but the god in charge of a specific subsection of gods (specifically the ones mentioned in Harriet’s monologue)

There’s already been other gods in other mediums, as well as Lux in S2, and I imagine we’re going to keep getting more and more, which I’m all for

Lux, great episode and I can’t wait to see who else shows up to cause chaos

We need a re-edit where 15 blasts “Who Let the Dogs Out?” as he drags Sutekh through the vortex.

This is something I don’t quite get either. The God of Death, seemingly one of the top dogs, if not the top dog… now he’s been done away with, surely the rest will be flimsier or easier to tackle, and are automatically lesser than Sutekh?

It’d be interesting, maybe, if we got some dialogue about how Sutekh being defeated left a power vacuum in the Pantheon that others are now fighting for, and his absence allows an even more powerful entity to take his place.

Liked The Giggle other than a certain controversial choice, and did think NPH was amazing as The Toymaker. Loved The Devil’s Chord and found it tonnes of fun, with Maestro being one of my fave NuWho villains! I really don’t like Empire of Death, and I found the return of Sutekh underwhelming.

But Lux? Okay admittedly there’s probably recency bias. But this is in my top 3 RTD2 episodes, and I looooove Lux/Ring-A-Ding so much!!! I just think everything[1] landed for me!

They should have had Sutekh belting out a cover of Everybody Hurts by R.E.M.

Can we have him do “God’s Away on Business”?

Voted for Lux, it’s just the one that worked the most for me. The Devils Chord was really not my Thing, despite on Paper sounding like something I would enjoy, but then again I can totally see why some do love that one the most. EoD/TLoRS just really isn’t it. And I wasn’t the biggest Fan of the Giggle.
As far as those Pantheon Gods go: I do love Sutekh in Pryamids and while Woolf is still great in EoD, I didn’t really care for his Characterization there.
Maestro is a very good Performance, one that I find myself more and more fond with, when originally it didn’t click with me as much.
The Toymaker was very enjoyable in the Giggle, even if there are also some Decision made with him that still baffle me.
And Lux or Mr. Ring-a-ding is here, easily my favorite. Cumming’s VA Work here is just brilliant, and I think the Animation really bring this Character to life!

I must admit I am not too fond of the Idea of the Pantheon, what does for me the most harm for me is the fact that it’s implying that Sutekh and the Toymaker all come from the same Group and/or are related to each other heavily, which I dislike. I will say forming a Pantheon of Gods with new Characters plus the Toymaker & the Trickster, I will accept fully and can buy it. But throw in Sutekh? Seriously? I’d rather he wasn’t Part of the same Pantheon. Besides that personal ‘Nitpick’, I think the Pantheon had their Issues of being ‘too much’ in this Era. And especially their Status as Gods certainly makes it tricky to write a good Way to defeat them without making it feel cheap. Which I find was especially an Issue with the Giggle and EoD, less so with the other two.

Oh well, maybe one Day RTD will actually do what we all want with them: A Pantheon Sitcom!

If Big Finish doesn’t make a Pantheon sitcom boxset in a few years, I will be disappointed.

Lux. The rest are pretty crap.

I personally tend to feel like they weren’t a group originally, but the Toymaker made them all his toys, as it were…
