Fiddlesticks, I wanted to participate in this on the day-of, but now I’m preoccupied with other (Sixth Doctor) things. I’ll leave this as a reminder to get to it before the next Extra.
So it is still on the Big Finish website (Doctor Who: Real Time - Doctor Who - The Sixth Doctor Adventures - Big Finish) but is unfortunately out of print. The best bet is eBay or attempting an ILL through your local library. The Big Finish CD version had scenes that weren’t in the animation and rights issues meant they were only allowed to release it on CD.
It’s Sixth and Evelyn vs. Cybermen, so I feel like I have a certain amount of appreciation for it pre-built… but that ending left me pretty cold. Don’t know which part annoys me more: The Big Bad reveal, or the odd feeling of confusion at whether any of this story still ‘happened’, what with all the timey-wimey.
Finished. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time :). I also love the mood-changing cat badge Six had; that was a nice touch and made up for the fact that the regular coat was too difficult to animate.
(I haven’t watched the ‘Animation’ yet, so keep that in mind!)
Real Time falls sadly under the unremarkable Tier to me, doesn’t help that this Story ends on a never resolved Cliffhanger. I while say there are some great Ideas that I quite enjoy with this one, not to mention that it’s just nice to see the Duo of 6 & Evelyn against Cybermen. While there are some interesting Things done with the Cybermen, I don’t think they necessarily worked all that much for me. Sure, our Cast for the most Part is great, in particular Baker & Stables, but it just doesn’t leave me much to go about.
I am curious to see how the actual Webcast will shape my Opinion, since I know I will do it sooner or later, hopefully more in its favor!
