Finished this one and, while it is good and does at least try to do something interesting with the Silurians, it’s not necessarily a favorite of mine. As a committed Christian and Creationist, I disagree with at least some of the evolution angle. That said, you have Charles Darwin on the Galapagos with Silurians, of course that’s what you’re going to focus on. And the genetic engineering side of the Silurians is better than just doing another failed attempt at diplomacy. I like that the Silurians are individuals and not just monsters. Add this to another Doctor Who alien that guided humanity’s development for their own ends (maybe that could be another trope @shauny). I’m kind of curious what the upcoming Darwin/Silurian novel is going to do with the concept while at the same time asking why bother when this exists. Anyway, a solid 3.5/5 for me. Bring on the Forge.
I think this one is quite flawed but held by a great Idea, great Cliffhangers and wonderful Character Dynamics (especially with Six and Evelyn or Evelyn and Darwin). I am not sure where to place it, it’s definitely better than “just solid”, but I can’t really place it too highly, and I am not quite sure why. Maybe some Ideas went a bit unexplored for my liking, but overall it’s definitely a good first Outing for the Silurians on BF (at least I believe so?)
Definitely a really solid Sixie/Evelyn story. Good character dynamics, and a nice pairing of celebrity historical figure and classic Doctor Who “monster”. A bit underbaked and with a wobbly premise, but by the standards of the early days of the range it’s excellent.
I rather enjoyed this one. Six & Evelyn are a solid duo. They have a great friendship. It’s rather nice compared to the usual ‘mentor’ role the Doctor has with a companion.
The story was paint-by-numbers, but the subject was interesting, and the performances were solid throughout.
A very good 4/5.

This has to be one of my last fav six stories,
I’m not keen on the sea devils so that brings a down a couple points.
Six & Eveyln are such a great duo
The story wasn’t for me - probaly not worth a re listen down the line
3/5 for me.
I did enjoy this one, although I really am sick and tired of the Silurians vs humans trope that always ends up happening. I wish there’d be an innovative story with them without this.
Love Evelyn & Six so much, and Darwin was great in this! 3/5
A really quite good story, this one. Sure, it’s the typical Silurian story again like we see in the original Silurian story, The Sea Devils, Hungry Earth/Cold Blood etc, but it has some twists to it.
Six and Evelyn are a really good TARDIS team and Evelyn especially gets to shine a lot in this story. The inclusion of Charles Darwin and commentary on evolution and such for this story is also an absolutely brilliant move, Darwin is a really fun character in this story. The Silurians themselves are also well-presented with differing personalities which makes them less of “just monsters”. Also, Six using “Albert Einstein” as a pseudonym is absolutely hilarious.
Though when it comes to negatives, I don’t really like the plot point that Tulok is single-handedly responsible for “creating” Homo Sapiens. I’d be fine if he was creating some kind of subspecies or just changing some already existing humans but the whole species is complete nonsense. The Rodriguez siblings also get shafted a bit, Greta dies in a sacrifice but is forgotten and Emilio also just disappears and is never heard again. The climax also got a little confusing and overly long for me but it’s not a big deal.
Overall, 8/10.
